Liverpool and Arsenal set sights on Kerem Demirbay

Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool both had relatively successful January transfer windows, with the Gunners acquiring Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan to bolster their attack, and the Reds tackling their defensive issues by purchasing Virgil van Dijk.

Despite this both Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp are already turning their attention towards the summer window, and, according to the Sun, they are set to do battle over Hoffensheim’s Kerem Demirbay.

The midfielder recently ruptured his ankle ligaments, which will put an end to a good spell of form that he was experiencing for the Bundesliga side. The 24-year old has been impressing recently, and has two goals and an assist in 15 league appearances from a relatively deep midfield role this season.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool could be set to lose midfielders at the end of the season, with the futures of Jack Wilshere and Emre Can in doubt due to stalling contract negotiations. It is little surprise then that they are in the market for a potential replacement, and it will be intriguing to see if either club can convince Demirbay to join their ranks.
