Liverpool are preparing a shock £38m raid on neighbours Everton for midfield sensation Ross Barkely, according to the Daily Star.
The 20 year old has been one of the star performers in Roberto Martinez’s side this season, scoring five goals in thirty Premier League appearances to help the Toffees into the top four with just five games left to play.
His form has gained him recognition at international level, with the former Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday loanee winning three full caps, and he is priced at 4/9 to be included in Roy Hodgson’s squad for this summer’s World Cup finals.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is a huge admire of Barkley, but will face an uphill task if he wants to succeed in completing a potential transfer, with Martinez insistent that the midfielder will not be sold.
