Liverpool will be looking to earn their first Premiership win over Manchester United in more than four years, in what should be considered the first top clash of the season in the English league.
In March this year, United beat Liverpool 3-0 at Old Trafford. The two meetings before that, both at Anfield, had the Mancunians winning 0-1.
Liverpool’s most recent premiership win came in April 2004, 0-1. Their last victory at home was achieved no less than seven years ago though.
Looking further back though, Liverpool do have a positive record versus Manchester, having won almost 46 per cent of their home matches. United won almost thirty per cent of their games at Anfield.
Unfortunately for Liverpool, history is in the past and on Saturday, Manchester have the better chance to clinch the victory, although a draw seems likely as well.
The coming weeks, United should be expected to feel extra motivated after all the news concerning city rivals Manchester City. Sir Alex Ferguson will do everything in his power to make sure that United continue to be the biggest club in town.
