Liverpool may need to contribute financially if Benteke leaves

The Mirror understands that Liverpool may have to pay a portion of Christian Benteke’s wages next season if he moves to a new club.

West Ham United are among the sides interested in signing the former Aston Villa man but they, like other potential suitors are not willing to match his £120,000 per week wages.

The Belgium international has failed to produce his best form since moving to Merseyside, scoring just eight goals for the Reds in all competitions.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has said he has faith in the twenty-five year old though he has started just three of his sides last sixteen matches with fellow Belgian Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge both above him in the pecking order.

Liverpool currently sit in eighth place in the Premier League, seven points behind fourth place Manchester City and can be backed at 11/2 to finish the season in the Champions League qualification places.
