Liverpool owners are realistic but are Rovers new owners for real?

New foreign owners seem to be in the in-thing in recent months. Liverpool were taken over by American owners and more recently Blackburn were taken over by an Indian company.

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has revealed that he believes his new bosses are prepared to be patient.

Are Blackburn’s owners going to be so patient? It seems there are contrasting styles between the two sets of owners.

Patient

Hodgson told the media: “The owners are very intelligent people and have a very clear vision. What they want is for the club to be in the top four,”

“But what they also realise that coming in when they have come in (buying the club in October), and me coming in when I did (July), it might not be quite as easy as all that”

It’s nice to know that some owners are patient and understand the game. It seems the American owners know that the club isn’t in the best of shape and are prepared to give Roy Hodgson some time to improve the situation. At least all the right noises are coming out of Anfield.

Rovers

Blackburn Rovers took the less patient approach and sacked manager Sam Allardyce. It was a very strange decision to say the least. Apparently they are very ambitious and Allardyce isn’t the sort of manager they think will take them where they want to go, as I revealed in my article yesterday.

Replacement

Blackburn are now looking for a replacement for Allardyce and have revealed that they will have patience over that decision. In fact they put first team coach Steve Kean in charge until the end of the season.

The new Indian owners confirmed it by saying: “For now, the current coach will be the manager till the end of the season. There is no question of signing anyone for such a short time.”

I really can’t understand this decision. I am starting to think that the Indian owners don’t know much about football at all. If the club were going to wait until the end of the season to bring in a new manager why didn’t they leave Sam Allardyce in charge?

I’m sure Steve Kean is probably a very competent coach but you have to ask yourselves this question why after all these years in football is he still just a coach and he’s never moved on to being a manager.

Ambitious

Rovers new owners are very ambitious according to reports, yet allegedly they are only willing to invest £5million in new players. If those reports are true then they don’t know anything about football.

Blackburn are in serious trouble if the new owners think £5million can get you anywhere in the Premier League. That amount of money just about buy’s you one decent player these days.

Rovers owners are looking at challenging for the top four or five apparently. Of course you can’t always believe what you read but if I was a Rovers supporter I wouldn’t be too confident at the moment.

Crazy

Another issue that would concern me about the new owners is the fact that they are considering appointing Diego Maradona as their new manager. I’m sorry but he would be an awful appointment. He was a great footballer but his managerial credentials are very questionable, another question mark over the new owners.

Worried

From what I have read Blackburn Rovers fans are very worried by events at their club. I haven’t heard many fans praising the sacking of Allardyce or the temporary appointment of Kean until the end of the season.

Blackburn fans are a loyal bunch and I hope for their sake that the new owners have some football knowledge because if they haven’t then they will be given short strife from the Rovers fans. Another solid Premier League club has been thrown into turmoil and I just hope Rovers don’t become another poorly run top flight club.

Will Blackburn’s new owners be successful?
