Liverpool rejected five offers of taking Dominic Solanke on loan this summer, according to Evening Standard.
England U-23 manager Aidy Boothroyd recently voiced concern of the lack of playing time for Solanke at Liverpool. However, the Merseyside club believe the striker’s development will at this point be best served at Anfield.
Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa, Rangers and Lyon have all made offers to temporarily take Solanke, who turns 21 on September 14. Other clubs registered their interest as well, but Liverpool turned them all down.
It remains to be seen what exactly Klopp’s plan regarding the U-20 World Cup winner is. Along with Danny Ings, Solanke represented a significant step down from Roberto Firmino whenever called upon last season, scoring only once in a total of 27 appearances across all competitions. Now, with Daniel Sturridge back from his loan with West Bromwich Albion and fully fit, along with the presence of Divock Origi who spent last season on loan at Wolfsburg, it seems Solanke’s game-time will be very limited.
