The Gareth Barry Transfer Saga, as it shall henceforth be known, has been stretched to ridiculous lengths over the past two months and a bit. Now, even the player seems to have tired of reading the same story in the newspaper day after day.

According to The Times, Gareth Barry will shut the door on his possible move to Liverpool if the deal will not be concluded by the start of the Premier League campaign - next Saturday.

The whole transfer saga started after Aston Villa set an asking price for their captain - £18 million, non-negotiable - which Liverpool were unwilling to meet. Note: unwilling, not unable, since they signed Robbie Keane from Tottenham for an initial £19 million.

Now Barry could face the daunting prospect of continuing his career at his boyhood club Aston Villa. Despite having been welcomed back into the team by Martin O’Neill, some Aston Villa fans have been disappointed by their captain’s actions over the past two months.

it is only the 8th. of the month and the transfer bidding ends on the 31st. therefore I don’t understand why Garry has given his “ultimatum” to Liverpool club that his transfer to Anfield must be before the start of the season ? Actually, LFC has better players than him and should not worry about him.

I am a liverpool fan. I think my club is another disgrace the way we are treating Gareth Barry. I wish Barry close the door on us. We need british players with the new rule coming soon. My opinion and disregard to some short minded liverpool fans still dreaming about villa, silva, querasma, carry on dreaming. We will not lift the title for another 20 years. And we know that. Look at Aston Villa, they are an example, they are building the team amongst british young player i.e luke young and shorey bought yesterday. There are more british player in there team than foreigner players. LIVERPOOL FANS CALLING ‘FORGET BARRY, WE SHOULD GET SILVA’ everyone is laughing at us, even the media doesn’t want to talk about gareth Barry.

Simple solution Mr. Barry… ask in writing for your release and then the price can go down 3 million and all the wait will end.

Too right Mohammed, Villa only have a small first team squad but we can still put out a decent English team

    S Taylor

    L Young, C Davies, Z Knight, N Shorey

    C Gardner, N Reo-Coker, S Sidwell, A Young

    G Agbonlahor, M Harewood

    Subs. G Barry, W Routledge

Got something to say?
