Liverpool are set to make an £8million bid for Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, according to the Daily Mail.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the Belgian international for some months, following the uncertainty surrounding the future of Pepe Reina.
The current Reds number one is at the top of Barcelona’s list of replacements for Victor Valdes, who has confirmed that he will not be signing an extension to his contract, which expires at the end of next season.
Mignolet is keen to secure a move away from the Stadium of Light as he looks to secure his place in the national side ahead of next year’s World Cup amid stiff competition from Thibaut Courtois, who has excelled on loan with Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool has also been keeping a close eye on Stoke City shot stopper Asmir Begovic, though he has recently expressed a desire to remain with the Potters.
