Lloris unhappy as Spurs No. 2; Luiz wants Falcao at Stamford Bridge

France No. 1 goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has revealed that he is not delighted with his current club situation at Tottenham Hotspur, which currently has him as Spurs’ No. 2 shot-stopper behind Andre Villas-Boas’ first-choice Brad Friedel, The Telegraph understands.

Lloris, who joined Spurs from French giants Olympique Lyonnais for a fee of £8 million on transfer deadline day, has started just one English Premier League match for Tottenham this season, despite keeping a clean-sheet in his only start against Aston Villa on 7 October.

“I’m training, I do the maximum, and the coach made his choice,” Lloris told L’Equipe following France’s 2-1 win over Italy on Wednesday.

“It is difficult to accept. It is a little hard. You will have to ask the coach. I just stay professional.”

Neither Hugo Lloris or France boss Didier Deschamps are big supporters of Andre Villas-Boas at the moment. Both Frenchman feel that Lloris should be getting more games at White Hart Lane, and rightfully so.

“He doesn’t play enough at his club and it doesn’t sit very well with him,” insisted Deschamps. “His situation is difficult, burdensome, not ideal.

“Returning to the bench after the performance he made with us in Spain is not easy. He cannot be satisfied playing only one game out of two or three.”

It’s hard to argue with Deschamps, especially when you consider Lloris’ CV. He’s started 36 matches in the UEFA Champions League for Ligue 1 powerhouse Lyon, as well as being France’s No. 1 at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and at Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.

Lloris, 25, is a top-class shot-stopper with both ability and experience, and should — without any shadow of a doubt — be Andre Villas-Boas’ No. 1.

Luiz wants Falcao at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea centre-back David Luiz has acknowledged that he wants in-form Atletico Madrid talisman Radamel Falcao to join him at Chelsea, Sky Sports reports.

Luiz and Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva were given the difficult task of keeping Falcao quite when Brazil faced Colombia in an international friendly at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey on Wednesday.

The Brazilian centre-back duo did just that, but Colombia still managed to earn a 1-1 draw against the 2014 World Cup hosts, with Juan G. Cuadrado and Neymar on target.

“He would fit perfectly in to the squad,” revealed Luiz. “We would all be happy [if he signed] because Falcao would undoubtedly be a great player for our team. He is very difficult to stop. He is an excellent striker.”

I can understand Lloris being unhappy about being no. 2 when he knows he has more to offer than Friedel who is on his way out. We have to be careful otherwise we might lose him. I hope he plays this weekend against Arsenal. Let us see if AVB has any sense.
