Germany coach Joachim Loew is confident his experimental squad can get results against Ecuador and the United States.
With Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund’s stars involved in the Champions League final on May 25, they will be given a rest.
Real Madrid duo Sami Khedira and Mesut Oezil have also been left out, giving the likes of Sidney Sam, Max Kruse, Philipp Wollscheid and Nicolai Mueller a chance.
Loew believes his players will make the most of their opportunities against Ecuador on May 29 and the USA four days later.
“I talked to (Borussia Dortmund coach) Juergen Klopp about the selection process,” Loew said.
“Sven Bender and Kevin Grosskreutz are players with good skills. They haven’t played a huge number of games so they will be fit enough for me to select them for the trip to the USA.
“Hummels, (Marcel) Schmelzer and Reus have played a lot of games in this season and have brought everything out from themselves to achieve their goals and get into the final. That is the main reason I have refrained from selecting them for the team.
“It is a pity but we have a good squad still and I am confident the players can perform and get a result.”
Germany great Juergen Klinsmann coaches the US and Loew said he was in regular contact with the 48-year-old.
Loew was full of praise for the US and said he was looking forward to the clash at the Robert F Kennedy Memorial Stadium.
“The United States team have been looking in good form and I think they believe that they could win this match,” he said.
“Of course for the team of Juergen Klinsmann it is also great preparation for their qualifiers for the World Cup in 2014.
“The value of German football in the USA is enormous and they are looking forward to this game.
“The game is already sold out and we are anticipating a very good game against very tough opposition in June.”
