Emerging Uruguayan striker Nicolas Lopez has taken the Sudamericano Under-20 championship by storm.
Lopez has scored three goals in three matches so far, including the 20th-minute opening goal against Ecuador as Uruguay played out a 2-2 draw on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old Roma player, who joined the Serie A outfit from Nacional in 2012 and netted an injury-time equaliser on debut against Catania, is the competition’s leading scorer, one ahead of team-mate Diego Rolan.
Uruguay are on top of Group B with one win and two draws after three matches and can seal progression to the next round with a win against Venezuela on Saturday.
