Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez insists his side are fully focused on their clash against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Sunday.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez insists his side are fully focused on their clash against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho’s men drew 1-1 with Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie on Wednesday.

The Portuguese coach has already given up on the league title, with his side third and 19 points behind leaders Barcelona.

But despite huge encounters against Barcelona and Manchester United to come in the next month, Lopez said the focus was on Rayo Vallecano.

“The game against Rayo Vallecano is the most important thing for us right now,” Lopez told reporters.

“We need the points, but Rayo are a dangerous and brave side. They are in good shape. They (beat) Atletico (Madrid) at home.

“Surely it will be tough and we’ll need a great performance to get the points which is our goal.”

Real Madrid will take on United in the second leg on March 5 after only being able to secure a draw at home.

Lopez, who is starting in goal with Iker Casillas out injured, said morale had been low after the stalemate but believes drawing against United was a solid result.

“The feeling wasn’t the best after the 1-1 at home and therefore with the home advantage in our side, but after analysing it isn’t that bad,” he said.

“The tie is open like the one against Barca in La Copa (Copa del Rey). There we have a great challenge.

“We’ll visit two great stadiums of two great teams to show our level, to show we are able to win in order to go through in both competitions.”

Real Madrid and Barcelona drew 1-1 the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final, with the second leg to be played at Camp Nou on February 26.
