Germany head coach Joachim Low praised his team for killing off Czech Republic in the opening hour of their 3-0 win.
The world champions cruised to victory with a brace from Thomas Muller and Toni Kroos’ goal, but the winning margin could have been far greater given the number of chances they created.
However, Low was keen to hail his defence for their work in securing another three points in World Cup qualifying.
“From the back we played very well,” he told RTL. “The Czechs started by hitting us with consistent diagonal balls, but we defended and repeatedly broke.
“Then you noticed that, after 60 minutes, the opposition were dead. They were tired and then they had no chance.”
One player who was guilty of missing opportunities for Germany was Mario Gotze, but Low was pleased with the Borussia Dortmund man’s work.
“He worked hard and had a great chance in the first half,” he added. “One time or another, he was offside. He is still improving.”
