Competition: Ligue One
Market: Lyon to win against AS Monaco
Odds: 13/8 @ Ladbrokes

French Ligue One side Olympique Lyonnais host last season’s runners-up AS Monaco this weekend, but the home side are big favourites for the win.

Monaco came close to the title in 2013/14, but have endured a difficult summer – letting their two best players leaving while the transfer window was open (Radamel Falcao to Man Utd on loan, and James Rodriguez to Real Madrid for £65M). Monaco have subsequently started the new campaign poorly too, taking just four points from as many games.

They sit 15th in the league, but face a Lyon side also struggling in the division at present. Nevertheless, the home side are being backed for the win, with Ladbrokes giving odds of 13/8 for Lyon to take all three points against their fellow out-of-form opposition.

Lyon do have talented individuals in their attack that can unlock defences. The likes of striker Alexandre Lacazette and attacking fullback Christophe Jallet will be Lyon’s chief threats against Monaco, with the latter having often supplied goals for the frontmen in 2013/14
