Lyon captain linked with Arsenal switch

Arsenal have launched a new assault on Olympique Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons, according to Metro.

The Gunners have been keeping close tabs on the talented footballer over the last year or so, and they seem to have decided to make a move in the summer transfer window.

Metro has suggested that Arsenal have established initial contact with the French club with a view of luring the Lyon captain to the Emirates in the summer.

Les Gones are not exactly prepared to part ways with their star player, but it is believed an offer in the region of £15 million would make them change their minds.

Gonalons, who has a contract until June 2016 at Stade Gerland, is a product of club’s youth academy and he has been making incredible progress over the last few years.

The 24-year-old has made a total of 104 Ligue 1 appearances for les Gones, scoring 6 goals in the process, and he is regarded as one of Europe’s best holding midfielders.
