Lyon recruit a new striker

French giants Lyon have announced the signing of French forward Jean-Philippe Mateta from Chateauroux on their official website.

The youngster has signed a five-year contract at Parc OL and he immediately joined his new teammates in the training camp.

Even though the summer transfer window is now closed, Lyon were allowed to add another player to their squad after Alexandre Lacazette had picked up an injury.

Les Gones had attempted to recruit the talented forward few weeks back, but they were unable to find an agreement with Chateauroux.

Jean-Philippe Mateta scored 11 goals in 22 league outings in his debut season on senior level last term, while also bagging 7 goals in as many matches for the reserves.

He has since enjoyed a strong start to the new campaign and bagged a total of five goals in what would prove to be his final three appearances for Chateauroux.
