Napoli defender Christian Maggio believes he can convince team-mate Edinson Cavani to stay with the club.
The Uruguay international has been strongly linked with a departure from the Stadio San Paolo, with Real Madrid and Chelsea thought to be vying for his signature.
However, Maggio insists he will try to persuade Cavani to remain with the Naples club.
“We have not spoken to each other recently. There has simply not been any time. But we will have a calm and relaxed talk about his situation,” Maggio told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I don’t know yet when we will meet, but we have always had a good relationship.
“I will try to convince him to stay put. It’s then up to him to make a decision, but I obviously want him to stay at Napoli.”
Cavani, who netted 29 Serie A goals last term, is believed to have a release clause in his contract worth €63 million.
