(GSM) – Feyenoord Rotterdam beat Vitesse 2-1 in a match of which the first half was suspended due to heavy rain earlier this month.

The two sides met at Rotterdam’s Kuip stadium on March 20th, where defender Ron Vlaar put the hosts ahead after a corner kick in the 13th minute.

Vitesse’s first real chance occurred just before the break, when the pitch was little more than a swimming pool. Nicky Hofs delivered a free kick from the left wing and Wiljan Pluim headed in at the second post.

The second half was left for March 31, and it took Feyenoord ten minutes to score the deciding goal. Giovanni van Bronckhorst took a free kick which was headed into Roy Makaay’s path by Andre Bahia, allowing the former Vitesse striker to hit the target from close range, 2-1.
