Malaga and Galatasaray covet Bendtner; Chelsea and United interested in Axel Witsel

Malaga CF and Galatasaray S.K. are reportedly keen on out-of-favour Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, who impressed at Euro 2012 this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

“The interest is overwhelming, just as it should be after the way Nicklas performed at Euro 2012,” revealed the 24-year-old’s agent Jesper Lynghus.

The former Kjøbenhavns Boldklub youth starlet bagged two goals and one assist in the Group of Death at this summer’s UEFA European Football Championship in Poland-Ukraine.

As his agent alluded to, the interest in Bendtner is very strong and also warranted. With that said, the Dane comes with some baggage, and Euro 2012 revealed exactly that.

Bendtner was fined €100,000 and banned for one international match after advertising a betting company on his underwear while celebrating a goal against Portugal at Euro 2012.

The striker oozes quality, but his actions tend to land him in trouble more often than not.

Apparently, Malaga and Galatasaray are willing to put up with his antics. Can you blame them? Surely not.

Bendtner tallied eight goals and five assists in 28 league appearances (25 starts) for Sunderland in 2011-12.

Chelsea and Manchester United set to battle for Axel Witsel

According to Express, English Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United will battle each other for the signature of Belgium international Axel Witsel this summer.

The former Standard de Liège standout is coming off an incredible 2011-12 campaign with Benfica.

Witsel featured in 28 league matches for Benfica last season, tallying one goal, but he mainly impressed scouts in his 12 UEFA Champions League showings.

The Belgian bagged two goals and two assists in the UCL last term, and also turned in two fine shifts against Manchester United.

As a result, Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson and Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo seem to both be eyeing the Belgium international, with Benfica ready to cash-in on the £20million-rated midfielder.

The Portuguese club paid just £6.3 million to land the maestro from Standard last summer.

Berlusconi wants Andy Carroll

AC Milan talent master Pier Silvio Berlusconi has revealed that Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is one of his future transfer targets, The Sun reports.

“This is a new era for Milan,”  said Berlusconi. “We will continue to get younger while maintaining the culture. Milan still has its superstars.

“As a future target I’d like Andy Carroll.

“I must admit that, for his body build, and after seeing his header in the Euros, I would like to have Carroll at Milan.”

The 23-year-old England international scored four goals in 35 league appearances last season. In case you’re wondering, that’s not a good goal-scoring ratio.

I must admit, I am quite perplexed with Berlusconi’s interest in Carroll. That is all.
