Juande Ramos appears to have stepped down as head coach of Malaga, according to tweets by the LaLiga club’s owner Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani.
Second-tier side Cordoba knocked Malaga out of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, extending their winless run to five matches in all competitions.
Former Sevilla and Tottenham boss Ramos returned to Malaga for a second spell in charge in May, signing a three-year deal, but the club’s recent downturn seems to have persuaded him to move aside.
In English, Spanish and Arabic, Al-Thani tweeted: “Thanks a lot, Mr Juande Ramos. I appreciate your candor, I respect your decision, I wish you every success.
Heading into the mid-season break, Malaga lie 11th in LaLiga with 21 points.
Thanks a lot
