Malmo have been hit with a fine for the poor condition of their pitch during the UEFA Champions League group stages.

The Swedish side reached the tournament proper this season for the first time since the Champions League’s current format was adopted.

Age Hareide’s men were eliminated having claimed one win from six Group A matches and have now been punished for their playing surface at the Swedbank Stadion by the governing body, with UEFA handing down a €100,000 sanction.

However, €50,000 of that amount has been deferred for a period of two years.
