Mamadou Sakho linked with Ligue 1 return

French media outlet Le 10 Sport claims that Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho could be moving back to Ligue 1 in the winter.

The highly rated footballer has been dropped from the first team squad at Anfield and is currently training with the reserves.

That means that the 26-year-old is almost certain to be offloaded in the January transfer window, and he should have no shortage of offers.

His former teammate Mario Balotelli has asked Sakho to join him at Nice, while Lille are also keen on the powerful centre-back.

The France international has a deal until June 2020 at Anfield and even France boss Didier Deschamps has urged him to leave Liverpool at the earliest opportunity.

In spite of everything that has happened since the start of the season, Sakho insists he is dealing well with the situation, but chances are he will jump at the opportunity to leave Merseyside for greener pastures.
