Man City interested in Shakhtar’s Fred

Premier League giants Manchester City are currently in the process of romping to the title, and currently lead the league by 14 points over their eternal rivals Manchester United. Pep Guardiola’s side are in phenomenal form and are playing some stunning football, but they are already reportedly looking ahead to next summer’s transfer window.

One name on City’s summer shopping list is that of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, according to the Mail, who clearly impressed Guardiola during the Cityzens’ defeat to the Ukrainian giants in the Champions League earlier this month. Shakhtar ran out as 2-1 home winners, and Fred was instrumental in their impressive performance.

The Brazilian is in his fifth season with the Ukrainian champions and has become a stalwart in the heart of their midfield. A potential switch to Man City would certainly help bolster their squad for what will likely be a title-defence, and it will be interesting to see if Fred can replicate his good form in the English top flight.
