Spanish daily newspaper Superdeporte claims that Manchester City could attempt to bring Eliaquim Mangala back to Etihad Stadium in the January window.
Hoping to recruit Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus, Pep Guardiola allowed the Frenchman to join Valencia on a season-long loan, but things have changed since.
With the Italian remaining in Turin and captain Vincent Kompany struggling for fitness, the Spaniard want Mangala to cut his loan deal short and return to Manchester.
The problem is that the defender could only return if Valencia give the all clear and they might not be prepared to do that having seen the centre-back become an important member of Cesare Prandelli’s side.
Pep Guardiola currently has just two fit centre-backs in the squad, although full-back Aleksandar Kolarov has been used in the heart of defence as well.
Nevertheless, Man City are almost certain to reinforce their back line in the winter transfer window.
