With Manchester United saying goodbye to two long-serving players in Rio Ferdinand & Nemanja Vidic, another player who’s been at the club for many years could well be departing Old Trafford this summer – Wayne Rooney.
The England striker, 28, has enjoy a good season of form on a personal note, scoring 17 goals and making 10 assists in 29 Premier League appearances. He’s set to spearhead the England attack in this summer’s World Cup, but will also be made to endure rumours about his immediate future.
Despite signing a new lucrative deal this season, Manchester United are very much a club in decline after suffering the worst Premier League campaign in their history.
888 Sport are giving odds of 13/2 for Rooney to have left Manchester United before this summer‘s transfer window has shut, with clubs such as Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich mentioned as potential destinations.
The large wages he would command could well put a lot of sides off, but if clubs learn about his availability, he won’t be short of offers this summer.
