Man Utd lead chase for Gaitan

Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola has suggested that Manchester United are in pole position to sign Argentine midfielder Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica.

It is no secret the Eagles are prepared to cash in on their prized asset, and it is believed that the Red Devils have an agreement in principle to sign the 27-year-old for a fee of €30 million.

However, Manchester United have yet to try and wrap up the deal, which is something Valencia are looking to exploit.

Los Che hope to lure Gaitan to Mestalla this summer, although they do need to offer him a significant pay rise seeing that the player is not too keen on joining the La Liga side.

Despite signing Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United are still in need of attacking reinforcements and they can be trusted to reignite their interest in the Argentina international.

After recording a narrow win over Tottenham in their opening fixture, the Red Devils are 8/13 to see off Aston Villa on the road.
