Premier League giants Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to recruit Swedish defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica, according to Sport Expressen.
The Red Devils have recently joined the race for one of Europe’s hottest commodities and Jose Mourinho believes he has an ace up his sleeve.
Namely, while numerous other top clubs are keen on Lindelof, the Man Utd boss hopes Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be able to persuade his compatriot to accept an offer from Old Trafford.
While the veteran striker has retired from international football, he was in Sweden’s Euro 2016 squad with Lindelof and the youngster is likely to listen to what his older colleague has to say.
Manchester United will also need to agree a transfer fee with Benfica, although they have the option to match the player’s €30 million release clause, that is unless the Eagles tie him down to a new contract in the coming weeks.
