Manchester City eyeing Coutinho bid

Manchester City have joined the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to ESPN.

The Premier League leaders are considering making an approach for the Brazil international, as they seek a long term replacement for David Silva, who turns thirty in January.

Barcelona have also been strongly linked with a move for Coutinho, who has been one of the Reds stand out players since signing from Inter Milan in January 2013.

He has so far racked up one hundred and twelve appearances for the Merseyside outfit in all competitions, scoring seventeen goals and was named in as the club’s Fan’s Player and Player’s Player of the Year last season.

Internationally, he has been capped twelve times for his country scoring his only goal so far in a 2-0 friendly victory over Mexico back in June.

Liverpool, who are on the verge of appointing Jurgen Klopp as their new manager, currently sit six points behind Manchester City and can be backed at 40/1 to win the Premier League.
