Manchester City join race for Emre Can

Emre Can is a man in high demand, with Italian giants Juventus and Premier League super club Manchester United both having reportedly inquired about his availability in the past few weeks. Now though it is Manchester City’s turn to get in on the act, and Pep Guardiola’s side now seem to be leading the race for his signature, according to the Mirror.

The German international has registered a goal and three assists in 18 league appearances this season, despite his relatively deep-lying midfield role, and has established himself as a stalwart in the middle of the park for Liverpool. Can is in his fourth season with the Merseyside club, but contract negotiations have reportedly stalled.

Manchester City meanwhile currently lead the Premier League by 12 points, and look set to secure the title after a record breaking first half of the season. It is little surprise that Guardiola is looking to bolster his squad, especially with City fighting on multiple fronts for silverware, and Can could be the perfect addition.
