Manchester City keen on Thiago Alcantara

Manchester City are eyeing a surprise move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to the Express.

The former Barcelona man was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United prior to securing his switch to the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2013, and his time in Germany so far has been plagued by injury.

He has made just seventeen starts in the league, scoring twice though he has been part of the squads that won back-to-back Bundesliga championships while he also triumphed in the DFB Pokal in 2014.

During his time at Barca, he played just over a hundred times in all competitions winning multiple honours while internationally he was part of Spain’s victorious squads in the U17 European Championship in 2008 and U21 European Championships in 2011 and 2013.

He has just five caps for his countries senior side, but hasn’t featured for them since a 1-0 friendly victory over Italy eighteen months ago.
