Manchester City set to swoop for Delph

Manchester City are set to make a move for Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph, according to the Mail Online.

The 25 year old, who has an £8m release clause in his contract, has been at Villa Park for the last six seasons, racking up one hundred and thirty-four appearances in all competitions and scoring eight goals.

His last match for the Midlands club was the FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal at Wembley back in May, while he made his senior England international back in September, and now has six caps to his name.

Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to fulfil his quota for homegrown players this summer having already lost James Milner, Frank Lampard, Scott Sinclair and Micah Richards in the close season.

The only two English players currently in City’s squad are goalkeeping duo Joe Hart and Richard Wright, while Gael Clichy also qualifies having been in England for the past twelve years.
