Manchester City sign Brazilian prospect Douglas Luiz

Report coming from Brazil, most notably from reputable media outlet Globo Esporte, claim that Premier League giants Manchester City have signed a promising midfielder Douglas Luiz from Vasco da Gama.

A €12 million transfer deal is being mentioned for the player who is about to put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Citizens.

Douglas Luiz is no longer considered a Vasco da Gama player in Brazil and his contract was officially terminated on Tuesday. Rather instead of joining the English side, the 19-year-old versatile midfielder is set to join La Liga side Girona on a season-long loan.

The City Football Group is set to purchase the Spanish side in the coming weeks and Girona looks set to become a farming ground for the English heavyweights in the future.

Pep Guardiola is believed to be a keen admirer of Douglas Luiz and his talents and the Brazilian is expected to spend a year gaining experience in Spain before joining up with the Citizens in the 2018/19 season.
