Manchester clubs set for Ogbonna tussle

Manchester United and Manchester City are set to lock horns in a battle to sign West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna, according to the Independent.

The fierce rivals have both been impressed by the twenty-seven year old’s performances this season – his first in English football.

Having moved to West Ham from Juventus last summer, the Italy international has racked up twenty-two appearances for the in all competitions with his one and only goal for the club so far coming in the last minute of extra-time in last month’s FA Cup fourth round replay victory over Liverpool.

Obgonna played fifty-five times for Juve where he won back-to-back Serie A tables while he began his career with their neighbors Torino and has also had a loan spell with Crotone.

He has been capped ten times for his country and was part of their squad for the 2012 European Champions, though he didn’t feature as the Italians reached the final where they eventually lost to Spain.
