Competition: Premier League
Market: Man Utd to sign Mats Hummels
Odds: 1/1 @ 888 Sport

With Manchester United in need of an experienced defender following the departure of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, the club are looking at Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels to marshal their backline.

The German international, currently playing in this summer’s World Cup, made 23 Bundesliga appearances last season, scoring two goals. He averaged a tackle or interception every 20 minutes for the Bundesliga side, and could be persuaded to make the move with the unlikelihood of Dortmund challenging for the league title any time soon.

888 Sport are giving Hummels odds of 1/1 to be joining Manchester United this summer, but the club have been eyeing up other potential targets. Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen and Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar have been named thrown into the hat as United’s defence lacks a true leader at the back.

Manager Louis van Gaal, currently still in charge of the Netherlands, will make an official approach for his transfer targets when he returns from the World Cup in the coming days.
