Manchester United are chasing Serbian defender Neven Subotic of Borussia Dortmund.
The Red Devils are reportedly lining up a bid of £20 million to steal the defender from the Bundesliga outfit in January.
You may recall that the last Nemanja Vidic was the last Serbian defender bought by Sir Alex Ferguson.
If Subotic can live up his potential, he can be as great as Vidic and that’s why United are so keen on the physically imposing Serbian defender.
The interest in Subotic is primarily due to the fact that Vidic has been injury prone over the past two seasons, Rio Ferdinand is always good to miss at least half of the season and Jonny Evans, well Evans is simply not the dominant force United need at the back.
According to Caught Offside, Harry Redknapp and Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a January raid of Manchester United.
Who are Spurs keen on this time?
The answer is Rio Ferdinand and Michael Owen.
The news was rather jaw-dropping when I first heard about it, but if Manchester United are able to land Neven Subotic the deal actually makes a great deal of sense.
Redknapp is preparing a bid of £10 million for the two, which could force Sir Alex to sell his beloved defender and striker.

Arsenal Transfer Rumours
German media reports have revealed that Arsenal are pursuing interest in long-time German international Lukas Podolski.
It seems as if Podolski has been around for years and that’s because he has.
The FC Koln striker is massively experienced, but is still just 26-years-old.
More importantly, his skill-set is ideal for the Gunners style of play.
If Arsene Wenger pulls off this raid, I expect Arsenal FC to finish in the top four of the English Premier League table.
Manchester United Transfer Rumours
Aside from Sir Alex’s interest in Neven Subotic, United are also keen on bolstering their midfield with Newcastle United’s defensive midfielder Cheick Tiote.
Tiote has bossed the Magpies midfield to the tune of the Premier League’s stingiest defence and his hard work has not gone unnoticed.
Chelsea FC are also keen on the Ivorian international.
Liverpool Transfer Rumours
Liverpool FC are keen on making a January bid for Mexican international Giovani Dos Santos of Tottenham Hotspur.
The Mexican midfielder has never been able to break into Harry Redknapp’s starting XI despite some absolutely splendid performances for his country.
The Reds are reportedly debating whether to make a £9.7 million for the player.
Carlos Tevez Transfer Rumours
Sao Paulo boss Emerson Leao stated that Carlos Tevez is worth £16 million as a player, but not as a ‘man’.
“As an athlete, yes. As a man, no,” said Leao.
“As a player, any coach would approve spending that sum for him. But he has been making it hard for coaches to want him. It has happened at several clubs, including Corinthians,” he concluded.
