Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, according to the Independent.
The Germany international, who has barely featured for the European Champions this season, is being lined up by Louis van Gaal as he looks to bring in a new midfielder.
He has made just three league starts so far this season and only eight in total, and is highly likely to leave the Bernabeu in the summer with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool also eyeing his situation.
Since moving to Spain, Khedira has racked up one hundred and sixty-one appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and winning a whole host of trophies along the way.
As well as being victorious in last season’s Champions League, the former Stuttgart man also has winner’s medals in the league, Spanish cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA World Club Cup while he was party of the Germany squad that won the World Cup in Brazil last summer.
