Manchester United join Rugani race

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a number of central defenders over the past few weeks, but the latest name on Jose Mourinho’s shopping list is Juventus youngster Daniele Rugani, according to the Sun.

The Red Devils will face stiff competition from the Premier League rivals Arsenal, who are also reportedly interested in acquiring the 23-year old’s services, but United are in need of a centre half in January. First choice defender Eric Bailly is out for the long term with an ankle injury, and Phil Jones has also missed games this season, so adding a top quality centre back will be Mourinho’s top priority.

Rugani has been able to establish himself some more consistent game time this season following the departure of long serving stalwart Leonardo Bonucci in the summer, and has featured nine times already this season. Being of such a young age, the defender still has a lot of room for development, and will likely become a world class talent in a few years.
