Manchester United linked with world record bid for Bale

Manchester United are lining up a world record bid in an attempt to lure Gareth Bale back to England, according to the Daily Star.

The Wales international moved to Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur for £86m last summer and starred in his debut season in La Liga, helping his side to success in both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, scoring in finals of both.

However, he has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with United set to once again spend big next summer.

The club smashed their transfer record to bring in Angel Di Maria from the Bernabeu in the summer, and are ready to pay £90m for Bale, who has scored four goals in seven league appearances so far this season.

United, who are sixth in the table following Monday’s 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion, host league leaders Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, with the home win priced at 15/8.
