Manchester United set to offload starts to fund Bale bid

Manchester United are set to make a move for Real Madrid midfielder Gareth Bale, according to the Mirror.

The Red Devils have long been linked with a move for the former Tottenham Hotspur man, who has faced criticism in some quarters this season despite scoring thirteen goals and making nine assists in La Liga.

In total, he has thirty-nine goals in ninety-one appearances for Real and was part of the squad that won the Copa del Rey and the Champions League a year ago though he could be set for a return to the Premier League, with United the front-runners in the race to secure his services.

Louis van Gaal could be set to move on both Robin van Persie and Angel di Maria in an attempt to fund the Bale bid, with the former Netherlands boss keen to freshen up his squad as they look to challenge on four fronts next season.
