Manchester United are set to make a record breaking offer for Lyon’s French star Karim Benzema according to the People newspaper and may be set to offer as high as £30 million for the star.

United are said to be working on a deal to bring Benzema to Old Trafford, however the deal is likely to be delayed due to the upcoming Euro 2008 Championships in which Benzema is being tipped to star in.

Benzema has been rumoured to be top of Alex Ferguson’s wish-list for many months with the striker being strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford back in January.

Benzema, 20, is one of France’s hottest properties at the moment and recently won the prestiged French Ligue 1 Player of the Year award as well as becoming one of the highest paid players in France.

The French star’s preferred role may be up front but Benzema also appeared on both wings for Lyon and would easily fit in with Manchester United’s occasional 4-3-3 tactic. Benzema was said to impress Ferguson through his combination of power and skill.

benzema will be a great addition to our already fantastic united squad..30 mil is a little too high though considering he is 20 and isnt british. i honestly thing huntelaar is a close choice, will give rooney more goal vision and is considerably cheaper. either one of benzema or huntellaar will definitely be great

Benzima! Benzima!! Benzima!!! That guy is a prolific striker, very good. Strong energetic with great vision and determination in front of goal. It will be a welcome development if Man Utd can land him this coming season. The question is, is he willing to come. Benzima has reiterated his ambition of not playing for United times with number. So, how sure are we this time. If United lands him next season, it signal warning to other European clubs that they are retaining both the premier league as well as the champions league.
Other options are there. The likes of Klass Huntellaar of Ajax, Luis Fabiano of Sevilla are all possible strikers that can make the difference for Man Utd.
EURO 2008 will show case allot of hiding talents that will garnish Man utd attacking options as well as their left and right full back.
Lets wait and see who will be landed at old trafford after EURO 2008.

Benzema would be a quality signing and I agree 30 mill maybe a bit too much, but unfortunately thats the price range these days, and it pains me to say it but it looks like we’ll have plenty cash if Ronny decides to go. Come on Ronny not all that glitters is gold, gives us two more years until you 25 then I’ll be more than happy for you to live your dream

I really think that Fergie should get him fast. I saw his game against Paraguay the other day and his ability to create spae for himself would be invaluable for United in the Premier League… especially in the games against the Big Four or those teams that park the bus in front of the net.

Karim Benzema will be a perfect fit for Saha’s place in the Manchester team they should also target Zlatan Ibrahimovic for there other striker. since he is being sold + he is one of the best striker playing in Italy. so they should target him also if they dont get karim.

benzema will be a dream signing and addition to an already flowing team. however i want to say should united fail to land him they should go for bebatov as at united we need an outright striker. we create a lot of chances in the box that are fluffed

Got something to say?
