Mancini admits interest in Van Persie; PSG launch new assault on Ibrahimovic

Mancini admits interest in Van Persie

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed reports linking the Citizens with a bid for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.

The Dutch forward is pondering his future following another under-par season at the Emirates and he could be tempted by the interest from Manchester City.

The Citizens are expected to sign another striker this summer and Roberto Mancini admits Van Persie is a realistic option.

“We will sign a striker if one of our forwards will leave,” Mancini told Tuttosport. “We want to keep all of them.”

“Van Persie is a top class player. His situation is different than the Clichy and Nasri ones, when we signed them. It was difficult to keep them at London for Wenger.

“It’s impossible to sign Cavani at his current price, Van Persie is different.”

The experienced forward has been in amazing form last season, scoring 30 goals in 38 Premier League games, while it appears he has managed to beat Klaas Jan Huntelaar to the starting berth in Netherlands’ Euro 2012 squad.

PSG launch new assault on Ibrahimovic

Paris Saint-Germain are stepping up their efforts to sign Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Le Parisien has revealed.

It is no secret the Saints are searching for a world-class striker and they are eager to explore the possibility of signing the Swedish international.

The French club has excellent relationship with the player’s representative Mino Raiola and Le Parisien claims they have already opened negotiations with the Italian agent.

Ibrahimovic recently expressed his desire to stay at San Siro, but he publicly spoke about club’s poor financial situation that prevents them from signing world-class players.

The player is reportedly not satisfied with the current squad and could decide to leave if the right offer comes along.

The Swede currently earns around €10 million per campaign, but his hefty wage bill wouldn’t be a problem for wealthy Qatari owners.

Milan will give their best to keep hold of their prized asset, but they would probably be powerless to resist a mega money offer.

Guidetti in Gladbach link

Borussia Moenchengladbach have set their sights on Manchester City forward John Guidetti, according to Kicker.

The Bundesliga high-flyers have already agreed to sell star player Marco Reus to Borussia Dortmund for €17.5 million and they are looking to invest the money into new players.

Signing a high-profile striker is the number one priority and the German club have recently expressed their interest in Twente’s Luuk de Jong.

Nonetheless, with the Dutchman followed by top European clubs, Gladbach decided to turn their attention to John Guidetti.

The Swedish striker has largely impressed while on loan at Feyenoord, scoring 20 goals in 23 Eredivisie games and he is not too keen on returning to Etihad Stadium.

The 20-year-old wants to play regular football next season and it is for that reason that he might find Borussia’s proposal very interesting.

i’m a gunner! I pity van pesie so much for not having any trophy to smile home with. Why not join manchester city so he can have a taste of a trophy? Arsenal seem to be okay without a trophy.
