Sunderland have finalised the signing of Italian goalkeeper Vito Mannone from Arsenal.
Mannone will join Paolo Di Canio’s side on a two-year deal and is likely to act as a replacement for former goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, who joined Liverpool in June.
The Italian failed to establish himself at the Emirates Stadium after joining from Atalanta in 2005 and was loaned out for spells at both Barnsley and Hull City.
During his time at Arsenal, he made 15 appearances, featuring in both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
Sunderland boss Di Canio has been busy in the transfer market as he looks to overhaul his squad, with the Italian signing Cabral, Valentin Roberge and Modibo Diakite on free transfers this week.
