Mario Suarez offered to Benfica

Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit Benfica have been offered a chance to sign Spanish midfielder Mario Suarez, O Jogo has learned.

It is no secret that Fiorentina have set their sights on Argentine defender Lisandro Lopez, but they are not prepared to match the Eagles’ asking price, believed to be between €6m and €7m.

Therefore, Viola are ready to include midfielder Mario Suarez in the deal and thus lower the amount they need to pay in cash.

This is one proposition that could prove quite tempting to Benfica as it would allow them to sign a player who performed admirably in Spanish La Liga and at the same time offload one of their fringe defenders.

The interesting thing is that Suarez was recently used as a makeweight in the deal taking Stefan Savic to Vicente Calderon, but has since largely failed to impress Fiorentina boss Paulo Sousa and could be moving clubs again this winter.
