French daily newspaper La Provence is reporting that Marseille are in talks to sign Newcastle midfielder Remy Cabella.
Seeing as star midfielder Dimitri Payet is set to complete a switch to West Ham, OM have identified the Magpies player as a perfect replacement for the France international.
And with Cabella largely struggling to live up to his potential since arriving from Montpellier last summer, there is a good chance Newcastle would consider any serious offer from Stade Velodrome.
Marseille aim to recruit the 25-year-old on a season-long loan, and it remains to be seen whether the Premier League club would be interested in such an arrangement.
After helping Montpellier achieve a shock Ligue 1 win in 2012, Cabella enjoyed two more successful campaigns with la Paillade, bagging 21 goals in last two seasons at the club.
However, he just could not replicate that form in English Premier League and only managed one goal in 31 appearances last season.
