Marseille join chase for Mamadou Sakho

Fallen giants of French football Marseille appear to be showing interest in Liverpool reject Mamadou Sakho, La Provence can reveal.

The highly rated defender is widely tipped to leave Anfield in the winter after clashing with manager Jurgen Klopp, and it would appear as though a return to France is on the cards,

Lille were the first side to show interest in the France international, while Nice striker Mario Balotelli then invited Sakho to join him at Allianz Riviera.

According to La Provence, Marseille are also keen on the central defender, although their chances of winning the race are not that great.

Namely, while OM plan to sign the player on a six-month loan, the Reds would prefer a permanent transfer.

On top of that, Sakho is unlikely to be keen on joining Marseille after coming through the youth ranks at rival club Paris Saint-Germain, but Stade Velodrome outfit are not yet ready to give up.
