Marseille keen on Matias Fernandez

Marseille are expected to make a move on Fiorentina midfielder Matias Fernandez, Sport Mediaset has learned.

Former Athletic Bilbao coach Marcelo Bielsa is set to take over the reigns at Stade Velodrome and the Chilean footballer is reportedly the first name on his wish list.

The experienced tactician has worked with Fernandez when he was in charge of Chile and he is eager to lure him to Marseille in the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old has been unable to nail down a regular starting berth at Fiorentina and could decide to leave Artemio Franchi in search of first team football.

Fernandez has made a total of 21 Serie A outings this term, starting 11 of those games, and he has managed 3 goals and as many assists in the process.

Prior to arriving at Artemio Franchi, the midfielder had represented Colo Colo, Villarreal and Sporting Lisbon. He currently has 47 Chile caps to his name.
