Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gueye has become a top target for French giants Marseille, Birmingham Mail can reveal.
The Senegalese joined the Villans from Lille in the summer as one of several recruits from French Ligue 1, and he has done fairly well during his maiden Premier League season, making 28 outings for the club.
But, with Aston Villa almost certain to get relegated, it is believed the club will cash in on the 26-year-old footballer in the summer transfer window.
A return to French Ligue 1 could be on the cards given that Marseille are hot on the trail of Idrissa Gueye.
OM are unlikely to stand in the way of Lassana Diarra joining a bigger club and they want the Senegal international to replace him at Stade Velodrome.
Marseille resume their Ligue 1 campaign with an away game against Bastia and they can be backed at 6/5 to claim maximum points.
