Olympique Marseille have confirmed an agreement with fellow Ligue 1 side Lille for the signing of winger Dimitri Payet.
The 26-year-old, who moved to Lille from Saint-Etienne in 2011, caught the eye of a number of suitors this season thanks to his 12 goals and 13 assists in the league.
However, Marseille confirmed on Thursday that a deal had been reached and the player would join them, subject to passing a medical at the Stade Velodrome next week.
“Olympique de Marseille has reached an agreement in principle with Lille and the player Dimitri Payet to his arrival at the club,” a statement on the club’s official website read.
Payet played mostly on the left wing for Lille after the departure of Eden Hazard to Chelsea but is comfortable on either flank.
He has appeared five times for his national side, grabbing two assists in his first two games for France, while he also has UEFA Champions League experience from his time with Lille.
