Martin Petrov set for Espanyol move

Bolton midfielder Martin Petrov is on the verge of joining Espanyol on a free transfer, according to AS.

Espanyol officials are desperate to boost team’s survival chances with new players in the January transfer window and they are set to complete their first signing of the transfer window.

AS reports that Bolton’s Marti Petrov has agreed to join los Periquitos on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The Championship side are prepared to rescind the player’s contract in order to allow him to leave on a free transfer.

Petrov is expected to undergo a medical on Monday and will probably join his new teammates on the same day as Espanyol boss Javier Aguirre wants to integrate the player into his squad as quickly as possible.

Martin Petrov has spent last two and a half years at Reebok Stadium, making 73 league appearances and scoring 7 goals in the process.
