Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez insists he bears no ill feeling toward Vicente del Bosque after being left out of Spain’s squad.
Spain coach Del Bosque overlooked the versatile midfielder for World Cup qualifiers against Finland and France, and Martinez is determined to win back his place in the national team.
“I am not angry with Del Bosque at all. He was the one who took me to the World Cup at the age of 20 and I owe a lot to him,” he told TZ.
“I will not get upset all of a sudden because he said I’m not in my best form. I know that he said those things in order to motivate me to get back to my usual best.
“The national team is still very important to me.”
Spain were held to a 1-1 draw by Finland on Friday and face France on Tuesday.
